Bhubaneswar, August 14, 2026: Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged people to embrace organ donation as an act of humanity and a way to give others a second chance at life.

In a message marking World Organ Donation Day, Patnaik highlighted the importance of organ donation and acknowledged the role of Suraj Samman in encouraging families to come forward for this noble cause.
He called upon people to make a firm commitment to donate their organs after death, stressing that the decision can help save precious lives and carry forward the values of compassion and service.
The former Chief Minister also emphasised the need to create greater public awareness about organ donation and encourage more families to support the cause. Odisha has been promoting deceased organ donation through the annual Suraj Samman, instituted in memory of a young organ donor whose donation helped save multiple lives.
