New Delhi, Nov 4: Following Diwali, Delhi has once again been ranked as the most polluted city in the world. On Sunday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi reached 382, while in Anand Vihar, it soared to 437. Despite a decrease in smoke emissions from vehicles and industrial areas, the city’s air quality remains severely compromised due to construction dust, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.

Although various measures are being implemented to combat pollution, concerns among Delhi residents are growing as pollution levels continue to rise. Last Friday, approximately 35% of the pollution in Delhi was attributed to dust from construction activities, but by Saturday, this figure had decreased to 15%. Nonetheless, it is evident that other factors are significantly worsening Delhi’s air quality. Key contributors include vehicle emissions, industrial dust, and construction debris.

In addition to these sources, Delhi’s geographical and climatic conditions also contribute to its pollution challenges. As a result, polluted materials tend to accumulate in areas close to the ground. Regions such as Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, and Dwarka have some of the highest pollution levels. At the Anand Vihar monitoring station, the AQI was recorded at 437, while it was 435 in Rohini, 430 in Lajpat Nagar, and 425 in Punjabi Bagh.
