New Mining Law Takes Effect: MMDR Amendment Act, 2026 Introduces Fresh Rules on State Taxes, Cesses and Levies on Minerals

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 28 [UDN}:The newly enacted MMDR Amendment Act–2026 is feared to have serious implications for Odisha’s mineral resources, the state’s rights, the constitutional safeguards of tribal communities, and District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds.
In view of this serious issue, the Congress Legislature Party submitted a request letter to the Hon’ble Governor, urging the immediate convening of a two-day special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for a detailed discussion and adoption of a united state resolution.
