Bhubaneswar, Sept. 19 (UDN): A third-year Integrated MSc student of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) died after reportedly falling from the roof of the Bhagirathi Hostel on the institute campus late Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Vinay Sanyasi Venkat, a resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra.
According to preliminary reports, Vinay reportedly slipped and fell from the hostel roof. Following the incident, he was rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in a critical condition. Despite medical efforts, doctors later declared him dead.
After receiving information about the incident, Jatani police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was taken into custody and subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.
Police are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the fall. Further details are expected to emerge after the post-mortem examination and completion of the investigation.
The incident has left students and the NISER community in shock.
