Nuapada Road Accident: Couple Killed as Truck Hits Motorcycle on NH-353, Driver Flees

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UDN): A couple was killed after their motorcycle was allegedly hit by a speeding truck on National Highway-353 in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Thursday morning.

The fatal accident took place near Tikhali Chhak under the jurisdiction of Khariar police station.

The deceased have been identified as Kapurchand Patel and his wife Mandakini Patel, residents of Birunpadar village under Komna police limits.

Couple Dies on the Spot

According to preliminary reports, the couple was returning home on their motorcycle after visiting a relative at Kotipadar village in Khariar block.

While they were travelling along NH-353, a truck reportedly rammed into their two-wheeler. The impact was severe, leaving both victims dead at the scene.

The truck driver allegedly fled the spot immediately after the crash.

Road Blockade Over Compensation Demand

Following the accident, local residents expressed anger and staged a road blockade near the accident site. They demanded appropriate compensation for the bereaved family and action against the driver responsible for the crash.

Khariar police reached the spot after being alerted and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.

Police have launched a search for the truck and its driver, who remains untraced. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
