Bhubaneswar, Sept. 18 (UDN): Odisha-born Dr Prasanna Kumar Acharya has assumed charge as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), taking over the leadership of the public sector energy company at a key stage of its expansion.
From leading its finances to leading the institution.

Acharya took charge at NLC India’s corporate office in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday. He previously served as the company’s Director (Finance).
With nearly three decades of professional experience, Acharya has held senior responsibilities across the power, mining and infrastructure sectors and has worked with organisations including GRIDCO, NTPC and Tata Power.
Extensive experience in power and infrastructure
During his career, Acharya has been associated with major infrastructure and development initiatives, including the Phase-II project of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).
At NLC India, he has been involved in several organisational transformation initiatives, including digitalisation, modernisation of enterprise resource planning systems, adoption of artificial intelligence-based solutions and financial reforms.
His experience in finance and strategic management is expected to be relevant as NLC India continues to pursue its growth and expansion plans.
Strong academic background
Acharya has an extensive academic and professional profile. He holds a graduate degree and a PhD in Commerce from Utkal University, besides degrees in Law, postgraduate qualifications in Commerce and Business Administration.
He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Roots in Kendrapara
Acharya hails from Kendrapara district of Odisha.
His elevation to the top leadership position at NLC India has brought recognition to the state, while his extensive experience in the power, mining, infrastructure and corporate finance sectors is expected to shape the company’s future initiatives.
As CMD, Acharya will oversee the company’s operations and strategic priorities as NLC India works on strengthening its existing portfolio and pursuing further development opportunities in the energy sector.
