Bhubaneswar,19th April 2025: Odisha continues to experience the effects of seasonal thunderstorms, offering a brief respite from the intense summer heat. Owing to the ongoing influence of pre-monsoon weather systems, several parts of the state have witnessed a noticeable dip in temperature.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that this temporary relief will be short-lived. After April 20, temperatures are expected to climb again, especially in interior regions of the state, where daytime highs may exceed 40°C.

For today, the weather department has predicted rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in multiple districts, including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur. Wind speeds could reach 30 to 50 km/h, and a yellow alert has been issued for these areas.

Authorities have urged residents in affected districts to remain cautious and avoid exposure to open areas during thunderstorms. The weather patterns are expected to shift again after a few days, bringing back hotter and drier conditions across the state.
