Bhubaneswar, July 23 UDN}: A Cabinet meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. During the meeting, the Odisha Fisheries Service (Recruitment) Rules, 2026, were approved.
Following this approval, the number of sanctioned posts in the OFS cadre has been increased from 617 to 835. The Cabinet’s decision is expected to create more employment opportunities in the fisheries sector and further strengthen the process of recruitment and promotions.
The move is also aimed at enhancing the efficiency and capacity of the state’s fisheries administration and giving a fresh impetus to fisheries development. With increased manpower and better career opportunities for personnel, the decision is expected to contribute significantly to boosting fish production and strengthening Odisha’s identity as a leading state in the fisheries sector.
