Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 [UDN}:Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Chairperson Babita Patra visited Bargarh district and inspected the Bargarh and Bhatli police stations during her district tour.
During the visit, she reviewed the functioning of the Child Help Desks at the police stations and held discussions with police officials on various issues related to child protection, safety and welfare. She also took stock of the measures being implemented to ensure that children receive appropriate support and protection while interacting with the police system.
OSCPCR members Kasturi Mishra and Kalpana Lenka were also present during the visit. The Commission stressed the need for further strengthening mechanisms for the protection of children and safeguarding their rights, while ensuring a more child-sensitive and responsive police system.
Babita Patra advised the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to strengthen child protection measures and ensure that children’s rights and safety remain a priority in police and administrative interventions.
