Odisha CM Enhances Ex-Gratia to INR 10 Lakh for Families of Victims of TN Ammonia Gas Leak

Bhubaneswar, June 23 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has enhanced the ex-gratia assistance for the families of Odia workers who lost their lives in the ammonia gas leak incident in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, raising the compensation from ₹4 lakh to ₹10 lakh per deceased family.

The decision comes in view of the tragic incident at a seafood processing unit in Tamil Nadu, where several workers, including Odia labourers, lost their lives and many others were injured due to an ammonia gas leak.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the Chief Minister conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He reaffirmed that the State Government stands firmly with the affected families during this difficult time.

The Odisha Government has also deputed a team of senior officials to Tamil Nadu to coordinate relief measures, support medical treatment of the injured, and facilitate the repatriation of mortal remains to Odisha. The officials are working closely with Tamil Nadu authorities to ensure timely assistance and proper arrangements on the ground.

The government has assured continuous monitoring of the situation and all necessary support to the affected families.
