Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4 (UDN): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Tuesday conducted an extensive review of flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in Kendrapada district, visiting several affected villages to assess the ground situation, interact with residents and monitor the administration’s response.
During his visit, Singh Deo inspected Bhuinpur village under Sansiddha-Petapada Gram Panchayat in Aul block, where he met flood-affected families, heard their concerns and reviewed the relief measures being implemented by the district administration. He assured residents that the state government would extend all necessary assistance to help them recover from the flood’s impact.
Earlier in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister toured Dandisahi Chhak and Krishnadaspur under Singhagaon Gram Panchayat, Harijan Sahi under Andhar Gram Panchayat, and Jagannathpur under Amrutamanohi Gram Panchayat in Pattamundai block. At each location, he inspected the distribution of relief materials, evaluated the availability of essential services and directed officials to ensure that assistance reached every affected household without delay.
Mahakalapada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the field inspections.
The visit follows Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s decision to assign Singh Deo the responsibility of overseeing relief and rehabilitation activities in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts, two of the worst-affected regions following recent heavy rainfall and flooding.
The state government has intensified relief operations across flood-hit areas, focusing on the distribution of food and other essential supplies, restoration of basic infrastructure, and rehabilitation of displaced families. Officials are also carrying out field assessments to identify immediate requirements and expedite assistance.
Singh Deo said the government is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to ensuring timely relief, speedy restoration of normalcy and comprehensive support for families affected by the floods. He also directed district officials to maintain close coordination with local communities and address grievances on priority.
