Bhubaneswar, July 23 (UDN): The Odisha government has announced a 5 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, offering financial relief to thousands of employees and pensioners across the state.
The decision, approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, will raise the total DA from 257 per cent to 262 per cent. The revised allowance will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
Employees will receive the increased DA along with their July salary, including eligible arrears for the period from January onwards. The move is expected to provide additional financial support amid rising household expenses and inflationary pressures.
The DA revision will benefit a large number of government employees and pensioners, helping them manage increased living costs. The announcement has been welcomed by employees, who are set to receive both the enhanced allowance and pending dues.
The state government said the decision reflects its continued focus on employee welfare and timely revision of allowances in line with economic conditions.
