28th March 2025: The Odisha government has approved 10 major industrial projects, collectively worth over ₹1.65 lakh crore, under the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA). These initiatives will span key sectors such as steel, aluminum, power generation, green hydrogen, and renewable energy, generating more than 51,000 jobs across the state.
The projects will be implemented in districts like Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, and Rayagada. Notably, Vedanta Ltd. plans two aluminum projects in Rayagada, with a ₹50,537 crore investment, creating 8,700 jobs. In the steel sector, JSW Steel will set up a 5 MTPA plant in Keonjhar, contributing to 8,000 new jobs. Shyam Steel will establish a 1.5 MTPA plant in Bhadrak, providing 6,000 jobs.
Other key projects include a ₹18,450 crore 2400 MW thermal power plant by Odisha Thermal Energy Ltd. in Cuttack, which will create 8,100 jobs, and a titanium complex by Odisha Metallurgical Industries in Ganjam, with an investment of ₹8,000 crore, expected to generate 8,000 jobs.
These projects mark a significant step in boosting Odisha’s industrial growth and employment opportunities.
