Bhubaneswar, June 19 {UDN}: The Government of Odisha is committed to building a prosperous, progressive, and inclusive state, and the development of women and children remains one of our highest priorities. Recognizing that the welfare and empowerment of women and children form the foundation of a strong and developed society, our government has been consistently implementing various initiatives aimed at improving their health, nutrition, education, safety, and overall well-being.
As part of our vision for a “Samruddha Odisha” (Prosperous Odisha), we are embracing digital transformation across all sectors of governance and public service delivery. The Anganwadi system plays a vital role in providing essential services related to maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, preschool education, and community welfare. Therefore, strengthening and modernizing Anganwadi services has become a key focus area of our government.
In a significant step towards enhancing digital service delivery at Anganwadi centres, the state government has launched the distribution of smartphones to all Anganwadi Workers, Supervisors, and Block Coordinators across Odisha. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era of technology-enabled governance in the Women and Child Development sector.
The provision of smartphones will empower frontline workers with digital tools that can improve the efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness of service delivery. Through these devices, Anganwadi personnel will be able to maintain records digitally, monitor child growth and nutrition status more accurately, track beneficiaries in real time, submit reports promptly, and access important government applications and information with greater ease.
The initiative will also facilitate better communication and coordination among Anganwadi Workers, Supervisors, Block Coordinators, and departmental authorities. It will enable faster dissemination of information, timely monitoring of schemes, and improved implementation of various welfare programmes for mothers and children.
Furthermore, the use of digital technology will help reduce paperwork, streamline administrative processes, enhance data accuracy, and support evidence-based decision-making. The digital empowerment of Anganwadi workers is expected to strengthen the overall Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) framework and ensure that government benefits reach eligible beneficiaries more efficiently and transparently.
This landmark initiative reflects our government’s unwavering commitment to leveraging technology for social development and public welfare. By equipping grassroots-level functionaries with modern digital resources, we are not only improving service delivery mechanisms but also empowering the dedicated workforce that serves millions of women and children across the state.
Our government firmly believes that the progress of women and children is essential for the progress of Odisha. Through such transformative initiatives, we are laying the foundation for a healthier, more educated, digitally empowered, and self-reliant society. The launch of smartphone distribution for Anganwadi Workers, Supervisors, and Block Coordinators is another important milestone in our journey towards building a stronger, smarter, and more prosperous Odisha for future generations.
