Bargarh, Oct. 3 (UDN): A migrant worker from Odisha’s Bargarh district has died while working at a company in Tamil Nadu, leaving his family struggling to arrange the money needed to bring his mortal remains back home.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal Mahananda, a resident of Melchhamunda under Padampur subdivision.
Family Informed About Death
According to information available to the family, Kamal had travelled to Tamil Nadu in search of employment to support his family.
His relatives were reportedly informed about his death on Friday night by youths from Odisha who were working at the same location.
The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately clear.
Family Seeks Financial Assistance
The family is now facing difficulties in arranging transportation of Kamal’s body from Tamil Nadu to Odisha. They have reportedly been informed that around Rs 2 lakh would be required to send the body back home.
Unable to arrange the amount, the bereaved family has appealed to the Odisha government for assistance in bringing Kamal’s mortal remains to his native village.
A local resident also urged the authorities to extend immediate support to the family and facilitate the return of the body.
Collector Takes Up Matter
Meanwhile, the Bargarh District Collector has reportedly taken up the matter with the Labour Department to explore arrangements for bringing the deceased worker’s body back to Odisha.
The family is awaiting assistance from the authorities as efforts continue to complete the necessary arrangements and transport Kamal’s mortal remains home.
