The incident was reported from Jandraguda village under Temrupalli panchayat in Mathili block, where the child was sleeping on the verandah of her house.

According to local sources, a hyena reportedly emerged from the nearby forest and attacked the girl, apparently attempting to drag her away. Hearing the commotion, her mother, Meke Madkami, rushed to the spot and confronted the wild animal.

The mother’s immediate intervention forced the animal to retreat, preventing it from carrying away the child. However, the four-year-old suffered injuries to several parts of her body during the attack.

The injured girl was rushed to a hospital in Mathili, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors are monitoring her condition.

Following the incident, Forest Department officials visited the hospital and spoke with the family to gather details about the attack. Officials are also looking into how the wild animal reached the village and approached the residential area.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, particularly those living close to forested areas, over the possibility of further encounters with wild animals.

For the family, however, the incident could have ended much worse had the mother not acted swiftly. Her courageous response helped protect her young daughter at a moment of extreme danger.
