Bhubaneswar, June 18: The Odisha Government has formally issued a statutory notification finalising the institutional framework for the VB-G Ram G rural employment scheme, marking the final administrative step before its statewide rollout on July 1.
Following earlier Cabinet approvals, the notification operationalises the scheme across all rural sectors and aligns it with the broader national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods through structured employment generation and asset creation.
Officials said the scheme guarantees 120 days of wage-based employment per eligible rural household per year, establishing a legally binding entitlement framework for rural workers. The notification also introduces strengthened accountability mechanisms to ensure timely delivery of work and wages.
Under the provisions, if employment is not provided within 15 days of application, eligible beneficiaries will be entitled to an unemployment allowance. The framework also includes safeguards for timely wage payments, with provisions for compensation in case of delays.
The scheme is designed with a dual focus on immediate employment generation and long-term rural infrastructure development. Key activities under the programme will include water conservation works, rural infrastructure creation, and development of sustainable livelihood assets.
Officials said the initiative will also support climate-resilient rural development and contribute to strengthening agricultural productivity through locally planned interventions and community-based works.
The government described the notification as a major step toward ensuring predictable rural employment, improving financial security for rural households, and accelerating asset creation at the grassroots level.
