Bhubaneswar, Feb 4, 2025 – Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a ₹10,599 crore allocation for Odisha’s railway sector as part of the 2025-26 Union Budget. In response, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his thanks to the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, and Railway Minister, calling the provision a key step toward building a ‘Developed Odisha’. He emphasized that this investment will boost railway infrastructure and support the state’s economic growth.
The budget allocation will enhance the state’s railway infrastructure, improving connectivity and supporting economic growth. Key projects include the integration of the Kavach safety system on nearly 1,900 km of railway tracks and the introduction of six Vande Bharat trains for high-speed travel. Additionally, ₹2,379 crore has been earmarked for the development of 59 railway stations across the state, including major hubs like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Rourkela.
These investments are expected to not only improve transportation and safety but also create opportunities for job growth and regional connectivity, contributing to the vision of a ‘Developed Odisha.’
