Bhubaneswar, Aug 17 [UDN}:Odisha is set to witness a major expansion of its telecommunications infrastructure with the installation of 1,000 new BSNL mobile towers across the state. The initiative is aimed at improving mobile connectivity, strengthening network coverage and ensuring better access to reliable telecom services, particularly in rural, remote and underserved areas.
According to the announcement, the entire tower installation programme is targeted for completion by March 2027. The expansion is expected to address connectivity gaps in several parts of Odisha and provide stronger BSNL network availability for residents, businesses and government services.
The addition of these towers is particularly significant for remote and tribal-dominated regions where telecom connectivity remains limited. Improved network infrastructure could also support digital services, online education, digital payments, e-governance and other technology-based facilities.
The project is expected to further strengthen BSNL’s presence in Odisha and contribute to the state’s broader efforts toward improving digital connectivity. Once all 1,000 towers become operational, people in previously weak-signal areas are expected to benefit from improved mobile and communication services.
