Ganjam, July 24 (UDN): A 20-year-old youth died after suffering an electric shock while refilling a household inverter at his residence in Khojapalli village under Khallikote police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Pandi.
According to reports, Deepak was adding distilled water to the inverter when he accidentally came in contact with a live wire, resulting in a severe electric shock. Family members immediately rescued him and rushed him to Khallikote Hospital for medical treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, Deepak’s family alleged that poor road conditions connecting the village to the hospital caused a delay in reaching the medical facility, which they claimed affected the availability of timely treatment.
The incident has left residents of Khojapalli village in deep shock and mourning. Local authorities have taken note of the matter, while Khallikote police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
