Odisha to Build Advanced Disaster Management Centre in Bhubaneswar with INR 180 Crore Investment

Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UDN): The Odisha Government has announced the construction of a state-of-the-art disaster management facility in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of ₹180 crore, aimed at enhancing the state’s preparedness, coordination, and response capabilities during emergencies.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the proposed facility will be developed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OB&CC), with completion targeted within one-and-a-half years. The foundation stone for the project is likely to be laid in September 2026.

The upcoming building will serve as a modern hub for disaster planning, coordination, monitoring, and emergency operations. Equipped with advanced facilities, it is expected to improve inter-agency coordination and strengthen Odisha’s disaster management framework.

The minister also announced plans to establish a modern auditorium at the Revenue Officers’ Training Institute (ROTI), Bhubaneswar, with an estimated investment of ₹90 crore. The facility will support training programmes, administrative activities, and capacity-building initiatives.

In addition, the state government is planning new circuit houses in Bhubaneswar and Puri to meet increasing accommodation requirements. A new circuit house will be developed within the existing Special Circuit House campus in Puri, keeping in view the city’s growing importance as a major tourism and pilgrimage destination.

For Bhubaneswar, the government will identify a suitable location for a new circuit house as the existing facility faces space constraints and increasing demand.

The proposed projects reflect Odisha’s commitment to upgrading administrative infrastructure, improving public facilities, and building a more efficient and resilient governance system across the state.
