Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UDN): The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday carried out simultaneous searches at seven locations linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Kotpad, Koraput district, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches were conducted on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
Vigilance teams carried out raids at Sethy’s official government residence at Kotpad, his office chamber in Kotpad, a rented house at Parabeda in Jeypore, a flat owned by him at Jatni in Khordha district, and his ancestral house at Derabish in Kendrapara district. Searches were also undertaken at agricultural land owned by him at Taragaon mouza under Borigumma tehsil and other associated premises.
A strong team comprising seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, 11 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and other supporting staff has been engaged in the operation.
During the searches, Vigilance officials are scrutinising documents relating to movable and immovable assets, including bank deposits, investments, land records and other financial transactions. Physical verification and valuation of properties are also being carried out to ascertain whether the assets accumulated by the AEE are commensurate with his known sources of income.
The raids were continuing till the filing of this report. A detailed inventory of the assets unearthed during the searches is expected to be released after completion of the verification process, Vigilance sources said.
