Odisha’s Iconic Festivals Recognized in National Cultural Heritage List

Bhubaneswar, 1st April: Odisha’s cultural legacy has received a major boost with the inclusion of Puri’s Rath Yatra and Cuttack’s Bali Yatra in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Sangeet Natak Academy.

Arabinda Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, expressed pride over the recognition on social media. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration had earlier submitted a proposal to the Union Ministry of Culture, seeking UNESCO’s recognition for Rath Yatra.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also celebrated the recognition, emphasizing its importance in showcasing Odisha’s vibrant traditions. This inclusion highlights the state’s rich cultural heritage on the national stage.
