Malkangiri,Oct 3 [UDN}:: Athlete Sanjita Haldar from Malkangiri district has brought laurels to the district by winning two medals at the Senior National Powerlifting, Deadlift and Bench Press Championship held in Delhi.
According to information available, the championship was organised at Pitampura in Delhi, with 568 athletes from 17 states participating in the national-level event. A total of 20 athletes from Odisha took part in the competition, including Sanjita, an athlete associated with the local Royal Fitness Gym.
Competing in the above-84 kg category, Sanjita delivered an impressive performance in two events. She lifted 77.5 kg in the bench press to secure third place and a bronze medal. In the deadlift event, she lifted 135 kg, finishing second and winning a silver medal.
Sanjita’s double-medal performance at the national level has sparked celebrations among sports enthusiasts and residents of Malkangiri. Her achievement has also drawn appreciation from her coach Siddhartha Shankar Behera, members of Royal Fitness Gym and people from various sections of the district.
