One Board for Classes 10 and 12 Likely in Odisha as Government Moves Toward Major Changes in School Education and Examination System

Bhubaneswar,  Sept 11 [UDN}:A major transformation is likely to take place in the education system of Odisha, with plans to have a single board for Classes 10 and 12. School and Mass Education Secretary Dr. N. Thirumala Naik provided information regarding the proposed changes.

Special instructions have been issued regarding preparations for Class 12. The curriculum for the Higher Secondary (+2) level in schools will also be revised, Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, said.

He further stated that free education will be provided through open schooling up to the age of 18. The government is also focusing on ensuring that students do not have to spend unnecessary amounts of money while preparing for competitive examinations.

To provide students with access to free digital education, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will be directed to introduce the necessary arrangements. A grant of ₹10 crore has also been provided for this purpose.

In another significant development, students will now have the opportunity to study +2 Commerce and Science courses in the Odia language as well. The move is aimed at making higher secondary education more accessible to students studying in their mother tongue and improving their learning experience.
