Sambalpur, Sept. 22 (UDN): A road accident in Sambalpur district claimed the life of one person and left at least 10 others injured after a DJ vehicle collided with a stationary iron ore-laden truck near Jamankira.
According to reports, the DJ vehicle was carrying around 30 members of the Maa Metakani Music Party, who were returning from Suakathi in Keonjhar district to Ichhapur in Sonepur, when the accident occurred.
The vehicle reportedly crashed into the rear of the stationary truck near the Jamankira Bypass on National Highway 53, under the jurisdiction of Jamankira police.
One of the occupants, identified as Abhi Samani of Ichhapur in Sonepur, died in the accident.
Following the collision, the injured were initially taken to Jamankira Hospital for primary medical treatment. Several of them were later shifted to hospitals in Kuchinda and Burla for further care.
Police and Fire Services personnel reached the accident site after being alerted and assisted in rescuing the injured and transporting them to nearby medical facilities.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
