9th January 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the foundation stone of the new Rayagada railway division building in Odisha on Monday. The ceremony was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh, and Odisha Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu, who joined via video conference.
PM Modi emphasized that the new railway division will enhance connectivity in southern Odisha, particularly benefiting the tribal communities in the region. He also noted that the development would spur tourism, trade, and create employment opportunities.
The Rs 107-crore project includes the construction of a modern DRM office building, divisional control office, staff quarters, and improved transport links. Additionally, it will focus on sustainability, with plans for rainwater harvesting systems. The new railway division aims to drive socio-economic development in the region, boosting both connectivity and infrastructure.
