Bhubaneswar, Aug 31 [UDN}:On the occasion of Raksha Purnima (Raksha Bandhan), the Transport Department launched a unique and meaningful road safety awareness campaign aimed at encouraging motorists to follow traffic rules and promoting a culture of responsible driving.
As part of the campaign, drivers and motorists who were found strictly following traffic rules were felicitated by the Transport Commissioner. The initiative sought to appreciate and publicly recognize responsible road users who contribute to making roads safer for everyone.
The campaign emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and that simple practices such as wearing helmets, using seat belts, obeying traffic signals, avoiding over-speeding, and refraining from drunk driving can save valuable lives.
Linking the occasion of Raksha Purnima with road safety, the Transport Department conveyed the message that following traffic rules is also a way of protecting and caring for loved ones. The initiative encouraged citizens to make safe driving a daily habit and inspire others to respect traffic regulations.
The felicitation of rule-abiding drivers also served as a positive reinforcement, demonstrating that responsible road behaviour deserves recognition and appreciation. Through such innovative awareness programmes, the department aims to reduce road accidents, promote disciplined driving, and strengthen public participation in road safety efforts.
