Protest withdrawn as Drivers’ Association reaches agreement with district administration following discussions with Collector and SP.

Jharsuguda April 22:: The ongoing agitation by contract carriers and tanker drivers at the Indian Oil Corporation terminal in Jharsuguda district has been resolved, bringing relief to transportation issues. Following the direct intervention of District Collector Kunal Motiram Chhanan and Superintendent of Police G.R. Raghavendra, the oil loading operations in tankers have returned to normal.
The District Collector personally visited the terminal to assess the situation. Later, at around 1:10 PM, an important meeting was held at the Collector’s office. Representatives from the Petrol Pump Owners’ Association, Tanker Association, and Drivers’ Union participated in the discussion.
During the meeting, the Collector clearly stated that petroleum is an essential commodity, and any obstruction in its transportation could invite strict action under the Essential Commodities Act. He also instructed the RTO to cancel transport licenses in case of any unauthorized or illegal activities.
Drivers raised concerns about the lack of drinking water and other basic facilities at the terminal. Taking the issue seriously, the Collector directed the Indian Oil Corporation management to install adequate drinking water facilities at suitable locations.
To prevent any fuel shortage, the police administration has made extensive arrangements. The Superintendent of Police informed that platoon forces will be deployed to maintain law and order at the terminal premises, and all activities will be monitored through CCTV surveillance. Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to create disturbances.
After the SP personally visited the spot and held discussions with the drivers, the loading operations resumed smoothly.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Kishore Chandra Swain, Sub-Collector Sabyasachi Panda, RTO Pranaya Mishra, and officials from the Indian Oil Corporation management.
