Koraput, June 8: The district-level celebration of ‘World Environment Day 2026’ was successfully observed today in Koraput District with great enthusiasm and public participation. The programme highlighted the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
On this occasion, the administration and participating organizations emphasized the need to preserve nature and create greater awareness about environmental conservation among the people. Various awareness activities and plantation initiatives were also carried out as part of the celebration.
During the event, the prestigious ‘Prakruti Bandhu Award’ and ‘Prakruti Mitra Award’ were presented to individuals and organizations for their remarkable contributions towards environmental protection and nature conservation.
The programme witnessed the presence of government officials, environmental activists, students, and members of different organizations who collectively pledged to work for a greener and cleaner environment.
