Koraput:July 1 {UDN}: The Universal Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign was formally launched at the Gandhinagar Health Centre under the Koraput Municipality by Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Nayak, who attended the event as the chief guest.
As part of the campaign, Pulse Polio drops were administered to children from birth to five years of age at 1,590 vaccination centres across the district. The district has set a target of immunizing 159,466 children, and officials reported that 90% of the target was achieved on the first day.
Dr. Shiva Sai Swaroop said that on June 29 and 30, health workers will conduct door-to-door visits to ensure that children who missed the vaccination at the booths receive the Pulse Polio drops.
District Chief Medical and Public Health Officer Dr. Guru Prasad Mahanta, Dr. Muktikanta Khatua, along with doctors and staff of the Gandhinagar Health Centre, were present during the launch of the immunization drive.
Additional line: The district administration has appealed to all parents and guardians to ensure that every eligible child receives the Pulse Polio vaccine to help keep the district free from polio.
