Bhubaneswar, June 13 (UDN): Festive fervour has gripped Odisha as the state gears up to celebrate Pahili Raja on Sunday. Today, observed as Saja Baja, marks the beginning of the three-day Raja festival, one of Odisha’s most cherished cultural celebrations.

Markets across the state are witnessing a surge in activity, with beauty parlours, fruit vendors, and sweet shops experiencing heavy footfall. Demand for seasonal fruits such as mangoes, jackfruit, and betel nuts has increased significantly as families make preparations for the festivities.
Households have also begun preparing traditional Raja delicacies, including Poda Pitha, Chakuli Pitha, and other festive dishes. The aroma of freshly prepared sweets and savouries is adding to the festive atmosphere in both urban and rural areas.
Young girls and women are enthusiastically preparing for the occasion by purchasing new clothes, ornaments, and beauty products. Swing installations, a hallmark of Raja celebrations, are also being set up in several villages and localities.
The Raja festival, which symbolises womanhood and the onset of the monsoon season, continues to be celebrated with great enthusiasm, reflecting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
