Rayagada, Aug 29 [UDN}:: The first meeting of the newly constituted Internal Complaints Committee of Rayagada Autonomous College was held in the chamber of the Principal, Dr. Saraswati Ray.
Addressing the meeting, Principal Dr. Saraswati Ray emphasized the importance of creating a safe, respectful, equitable and gender-sensitive environment within the college. She called upon the committee to play an active role in ensuring the dignity, safety and well-being of both students and staff.
Committee Convener Dr. Manasi Mohanty delivered the welcome address and explained the objectives, responsibilities and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee. Committee member Dr. Sudharani Nayak highlighted the need to increase awareness among students and strengthen gender sensitivity across the campus.
Another committee member, Dr. Tubal Benia, stressed the importance of building a healthy college environment based on equality, mutual respect and cooperation.
Legal Advisor to the committee, Pranati Patra, discussed the legal provisions governing the receipt, investigation and resolution of complaints. She particularly emphasized the importance of confidentiality, impartiality, fairness and adherence to due legal procedures while handling complaints.
Student representatives Shraddhanjali Panda, Rambha Bag and Jyotirmayee Sahu also shared their views and suggestions during the meeting.
Several important issues were discussed, including creating awareness among students and employees about the Internal Complaints Committee, organizing regular awareness and gender-sensitization programmes, strengthening the complaint redressal mechanism, and preparing an annual action plan for the committee.
The meeting underlined the college’s commitment to maintaining a secure, inclusive and respectful academic environment where every student and staff member can study and work with dignity and without fear.
