After years of near-misses and heartbreak, RCB held their nerve in a tense contest. Batting first, they posted 190/9, with Virat Kohli contributing a hard-fought 43 off 35 balls. Though the total appeared below par, RCB’s bowlers rose to the occasion.
Krunal Pandya delivered a game-changing spell, taking 2 wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs. Romario Shepherd’s dismissal of Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer proved pivotal, while Josh Hazlewood kept things tight in the final over.
Despite a late onslaught by Shashank Singh, who remained unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls, Punjab Kings fell short, finishing at 184/7.
The stadium erupted as RCB ended their 18-year title drought, with fans cheering loudly when franchise icon AB de Villiers appeared on the big screen, adding an emotional touch to a historic night.
