Bhubaneswar: Aug 7 [UDN}:As the water level in the Hirakud Reservoir has been continuously decreasing, the authorities have opened 13 gates of the Hirakud Dam to regulate the flow of water. The decision was taken after closely monitoring the inflow and outflow of water in the reservoir.
Officials of the dam management are keeping a close watch on the changing water level and the overall situation. The controlled release of water through the opened gates is aimed at maintaining a safe reservoir level and ensuring proper water management.
The authorities have advised people living in the downstream areas of the Mahanadi River basin to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by the administration. Continuous monitoring is being carried out to assess the impact of the water discharge and prevent any possible flood-related issues.
The Hirakud Dam authorities are maintaining coordination with district administrations and disaster management teams to manage the situation effectively. The water release process will be adjusted depending on rainfall patterns, river conditions, and the inflow of water into the reservoir.
