Bhubaneswar,Sept 17 [UDN}:The State Bank of India (SBI) has extended financial assistance of ₹1.30 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) of Odisha as part of its social responsibility initiative.
A cheque towards the contribution was handed over to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. SBI Chief General Manager Rakesh Kumar Yadav met the Chief Minister and formally presented the cheque on behalf of the bank.
The contribution is expected to support the state government’s efforts in responding to natural disasters and other emergencies, providing financial assistance to people in distress and undertaking various public welfare initiatives. The CMRF plays an important role in extending assistance during situations requiring immediate relief and support.
The SBI’s contribution comes under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, reflecting the bank’s commitment to supporting communities and assisting government-led welfare and relief efforts.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his appreciation to the State Bank of India for extending the financial support to the CMRF. He thanked the bank for its social commitment and cooperation with the state government in strengthening relief, disaster-management and public welfare activities.
The Odisha government is expected to utilise the contribution for purposes connected with disaster mitigation, relief and financial assistance to affected people, and other welfare-oriented activities, in accordance with the objectives of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The initiative highlights the role of financial institutions and corporate organisations in supplementing government efforts during times of crisis and contributing to social welfare and community development across the state.
