Kotpad: Aug 22 [UDN}:Senior Congress leader and prominent businessman of the Kotpad area, M.D. Farooq, passed away at the age of 64 following a heart attack. According to reports, Farooq had been suffering from illness and was shifted to Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh for treatment after suffering a heart attack. He passed away while undergoing treatment.
The late M.D. Farooq had been associated with the Congress party for many years and played an important role in strengthening the party’s activities in the Kotpad region. During his political career, he remained closely associated with the late MLA Basudev Majhi and was widely respected and popular among the people of Kotpad. He was born into a prominent family of the Kotpad area and was also well known for his business activities.
Following the news of his demise, Kotpad Congress MLA candidate Anamu Dian, Manohar Bisoi, Mani Prasad Patnaik, Jitendra Mahapatra, Shankar Panda, Santosh Mishra, Muna Khan, J. Banerjee Rao, Rehman Khan and several Congress workers paid their respects to the departed leader.
Pani Panchayat president Biren Bisoi, ward member Binod Bisoi, M.D. Yusuf Ali, Salma Begum, members of the local business community, representatives of various organisations and prominent intellectuals of the Kotpad area also visited the deceased and paid their last respects.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family, praying to God to give them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss.
