Kalahandi, Sept 11 [UDN}:Kalahandi’s Shubhalakshmi Das has been selected to represent India at the International Youth Festival 2026, scheduled to be held in Russia. Her selection is being seen as a proud achievement for Kalahandi and Odisha.
During the festival, Shubhalakshmi Das will interact and collaborate with young representatives from different countries and participate in various cultural exchange programmes. The international event is expected to bring together around 10,000 young people from 191 countries.
More than 1.13 lakh applications were reportedly received from across the world for participation in the prestigious youth festival, highlighting the scale of competition for selection.
As part of the event, Shubhalakshmi Das will present a project titled “Pragati”, aimed at strengthening youth-level relations and cooperation between India and Russia. Through the initiative, she will seek to highlight the potential of young people in promoting international understanding, collaboration and shared development.
A major feature of the upcoming festival is its sector-based approach to forming delegations. Participants have been organised across eight professional fields, including information technology, creative industries, media, sports, science and public service, among others.
Shubhalakshmi’s participation will provide her with an opportunity to showcase India’s youth potential on an international platform while also learning from young professionals and innovators from around the world. Her selection has brought recognition to Kalahandi and is expected to inspire other young people from Odisha to pursue opportunities on global platforms.
