Smart Phones Set to Empower Anganwadi Workers Across Odisha, Boosting Efficiency in Child and Maternal Welfare Services

Bhubaneswar, June 19: {UDN}:  In a significant step towards strengthening digital governance and enhancing the efficiency of grassroots service delivery, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, will distribute smartphones to Anganwadi Workers, Supervisors, and Block Coordinators at a special event to be held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
This landmark initiative symbolizes the state’s continued commitment to digital transformation and the modernization of public welfare services. The distribution of smartphones is expected to empower frontline workers associated with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) system by equipping them with modern digital tools that will improve service delivery, data management, monitoring, and communication.

The programme reflects the government’s vision of taking the benefits of technology to the grassroots level and ensuring that welfare schemes reach beneficiaries in a more transparent, efficient, and accountable manner. Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in providing nutrition, healthcare awareness, early childhood education, and support services to women and children across the state. By providing them with smartphones, the government aims to enhance their ability to collect and report real-time data, access digital platforms, monitor beneficiaries, and coordinate more effectively with various departments.

The event, scheduled at the prestigious IDCO Exhibition Ground, marks another milestone in Odisha’s digital revolution. The smartphones will enable field-level functionaries to utilize mobile applications designed for beneficiary tracking, nutrition monitoring, attendance management, service delivery reporting, and other administrative functions. This technological support is expected to reduce paperwork, improve accuracy, and accelerate decision-making processes.

The initiative is also aligned with the broader vision of building a digitally empowered Odisha, where technology serves as a catalyst for inclusive development and social welfare. Through digital connectivity, Anganwadi personnel will be better equipped to deliver essential services to mothers, children, and vulnerable communities, particularly in rural and remote areas.
The smartphone distribution programme underscores the government’s dedication to empowering women frontline workers, strengthening the childcare and nutrition ecosystem, and leveraging digital technology for effective governance. It represents a transformative step toward creating a more responsive, efficient, and technology-driven public service delivery system.
The occasion is being hailed as a “Digital Revolution Victory March,” reflecting Odisha’s ongoing journey toward digital excellence, administrative modernization, and citizen-centric governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
