Nabarangpur: Sept 7 [UDN}:A Self-Defence Skills Training Programme has been inaugurated at Nabarangpur Women’s Degree College under the initiative of the college’s Shaktishree Cell, in accordance with the directions of the Higher Education Department.
Presiding over the programme, the Principal of the college, Mrs. Maleswari Sahu, stated that training in self-defence skills is extremely important for ensuring the safety, building the confidence, and promoting the self-reliance of female students. She said that self-defence training is not merely a technique for protecting oneself during dangerous situations; it also helps instil courage, awareness, confidence and a sense of independence among students.
She further emphasized that every female student should make use of such training opportunities to become more capable, confident and better prepared to protect herself in challenging or unsafe situations.
Dr. Sanjukta Panda, Head of the Education Department and Coordinator of the Self-Defence Skills Programme, spoke about the importance of self-defence training and explained how it can help female students protect themselves in various antisocial, threatening and dangerous situations.
The training programme was conducted by instructors Ms. Raila Bhatra, Mrs. Rajeshwari Nayak and Ms. Rashmitanjali Karkara, who demonstrated and provided practical training on various self-defence techniques and skills.
The programme was coordinated and conducted by Mrs. Sunita Patra, Coordinator of the Shaktishree Cell. A large number of female students participated enthusiastically in the training programme.
