Boudh, Sept 7 [UDN}: A unique event titled “Our Food, Our Culture – Plastic-Free Food Festival” is set to be organised in Boudh district to promote traditional food, local culture, women’s empowerment and environmental protection.
A preparatory meeting in this regard was held today at the Mini Conference Hall of the District Collector’s Office under the chairmanship of District Collector Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak.

Promotion of Local Food and Culture
The festival aims to encourage people to reconnect with traditional and indigenous food practices while highlighting the importance of preserving local culinary heritage. Various traditional food items prepared using locally available ingredients will be showcased during the event.
Women’s Empowerment Through SHG Participation
Members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will play a major role in the festival by setting up food stalls featuring a wide range of delicious and traditional dishes. The initiative will provide SHG members with a platform to showcase their culinary skills, promote their products and strengthen their economic empowerment.
Awards for the Best Food Stalls
To encourage excellence and innovation, the three best-performing SHG groups will be honoured with awards. The stalls will be evaluated on the basis of the quality and taste of food, overall presentation and other standards of excellence.
A 100 Percent Plastic-Free Festival
One of the most significant features of the event will be its commitment to becoming 100 percent plastic-free. Single-use plastic items will not be used during the festival. Instead, participants and organisers will use environmentally friendly and eco-friendly materials, sending a strong message about the importance of reducing plastic pollution and protecting the environment.
The preparatory meeting was attended by Regional Pollution Control Officer Engineer Babita Singh, Additional District Magistrate Aniruddha Pradhan, Sub-Collector Binay Kumar Bhoi, along with other district-level officers. The officials discussed the programme schedule, organisational arrangements and the distribution of responsibilities to ensure the successful conduct of the festival.
The upcoming “Our Food, Our Culture – Plastic-Free Food Festival” is expected to serve as an important platform for celebrating Boudh’s rich traditional food heritage while simultaneously creating awareness about environmental conservation and sustainable living.
