Koraput, Sept 29 [UDN}: A district-level programme under the Sri Jagannath Darshan Scheme was organised at the District Culture Bhavan in Koraput, marking the launch of the first journey under the initiative.
On the occasion, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Women and Child Development Pravati Parida virtually flagged off the first pilgrimage journey under the scheme. The virtual inauguration marked the formal commencement of the programme in Koraput district.
The initiative is aimed at facilitating devotees’ visits to Lord Jagannath and other important religious destinations, providing eligible beneficiaries with an opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage under the government-supported scheme.
The district-level event was attended by the local MLA, Koraput District Collector, Additional District Magistrate (General) and officials from various government departments. Senior officials and representatives concerned with the implementation of the programme were also present.
The launch is expected to enable beneficiaries from Koraput district to participate in the pilgrimage in an organised manner and experience the spiritual and cultural significance associated with Lord Jagannath and Odisha’s rich religious heritage.
The programme was organised with the participation of the Government of Odisha’s Women and Child Development Department, Odisha Tourism and Information & Public Relations Department, among other stakeholders.
