Strict Guidelines Released by University Grants Commission to Ensure Student Safety on Campuses

Bhubaneswar, April 15:  The University Grants Commission has sent a letter to universities and colleges emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of students within educational institutions.
The UGC has instructed that all safety-related committees in institutions must function properly and effectively. This includes strict implementation of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), and Equal Opportunity Cell.
The directive also highlights the importance of CCTV surveillance to strengthen campus security systems and ensure continuous monitoring.
Furthermore, the commission has asked institutions to conduct regular awareness programmes for both students and staff to promote safety, discipline, and a secure learning environment across campuses.
