Bhubaneswar, Sept 9 [UDN}: In accordance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the State Legal Services Authority, the Third National Lok Adalat will be organised on September 12, 2026 (Saturday).
The National Lok Adalat will be held under the auspices of the District Legal Services Authority, Koraput–Jeypore, as well as in all court premises located at Koraput, Kotpad, Borigumma, Semiliguda, Dasmantpur, Lamtaput and Laxmipur.
A wide range of pending cases and disputes will be taken up for amicable settlement during the National Lok Adalat. These include:
– Compoundable criminal cases;
– Plea bargaining and mutually agreed settlements;
– Cheque dishonour or cheque bounce cases;
– Bank loan and recovery-related cases;
– Motor accident compensation claim cases;
– Compoundable traffic challan cases;
– Labour and employment disputes;
– Cases relating to public utility services, including disputes concerning payment of electricity and water bills, except matters involving non-compoundable disputes;
– Matrimonial disputes, excluding divorce cases;
– Family disputes;
– Land acquisition cases;
– Service-related matters, including pension cases;
– Revenue and other related matters pending before the Supreme Court, District Courts, and State, District or Taluk authorities;
– Intellectual property rights matters;
– Consumer disputes;
– Cases pending before various quasi-judicial authorities; and
– Other civil disputes that can be resolved through mutual consent and amicable settlement.
Apart from cases already pending before courts, various pre-litigation disputes, meaning matters that have not yet been formally filed before a court, may also be settled through the National Lok Adalat.
Such pre-litigation matters include cheque bounce disputes, bank loan disputes, labour disputes, disputes relating to public utility services, excluding non-compoundable matters, matrimonial disputes other than divorce cases, family disputes and other disputes that are capable of being resolved through mutual consent.
There is no financial cost involved in resolving disputes through the Lok Adalat. The awards or decisions passed by the Lok Adalat are legally valid, final and binding, and are enforceable in the same manner as a decree of a civil court.
Therefore, members of the public who wish to settle any of the above-mentioned cases or disputes are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. The Lok Adalat provides an effective platform for resolving disputes amicably while saving valuable time and avoiding unnecessary financial expenditure.
For settlement of eligible cases and disputes and to avoid prolonged litigation, unnecessary expenses and wastage of time, concerned persons are requested to immediately contact the District Legal Services Authority, Jeypore, or any of the seven Taluk Legal Services Offices functioning in the district at the respective nearest court locations.
