Nandapur, July 17 [UDN}: In an effort to enhance livestock resources and encourage self-employment through the rearing of cows, buffaloes, poultry, ducks, and goats, work orders for the construction of livestock sheds were distributed to 39 selected beneficiaries from various panchayats under Nandapur Block in Koraput district on Thursday at the Nandapur Veterinary Office.
Under the supervision of Block Veterinary Officer Dr. Yashabanta Kumuti, the beneficiaries were allotted different livestock projects. Work orders were issued to 12 beneficiaries for establishing farms with a capacity of 2,000 broiler chickens each, while two farmers received approval for poultry farms with a capacity of 3,000 birds each.
One farmer was selected for rearing 1,000 ducks, while another beneficiary was sanctioned a chick production centre. Seven farmers received approval for rearing 32 goats each, one beneficiary was selected for buffalo rearing, eight beneficiaries were allotted dairy farming units, and seven others received work orders for constructing sheds for rearing 11 goats each.
Dr. Kumuti informed that financial assistance for purchasing the designated livestock would be provided after the construction of the sheds is completed.
Among those present during the distribution of work orders were Dr. Siddhartha Behera and livestock officials Chiranjeevi Laitel, Nalini Kanta Swain, Ram Chandra Golori, Prabhakar Bag, Bijaya Kumar Khara, Renuka Choudhury, Laxmi Sahukar, Kamala Jani, Dhani Khara, and Somnath Arlia, among others.
