Two Die in Tragic Electric Shock Incident in Balasore Village

Balasore, July 18 (UDN): A tragic incident in Mahishapanda village under Simulia police station in Balasore district claimed the lives of a farmer and an elderly woman after they came in contact with a live electric wire, causing shock and grief among local residents.

The deceased have been identified as Babuli Das, a local farmer, and Parbati Munda, an elderly woman from a nearby village.

According to reports, Babuli had installed an iron wire fence around his paddy field to protect the crop from stray cattle. The fence had reportedly been connected to an electrical source as a security measure. On the morning of the incident, he entered the field without disconnecting the power supply and accidentally came into contact with the live wire.

Hearing his cries for help, Parbati rushed to assist him but also came in contact with the electrified fence. Both individuals died at the spot due to the electric shock.

Local residents immediately acted to disconnect the power supply and alerted emergency services. Fire personnel and ambulance teams reached the location, recovered the bodies, and shifted them to Simulia Community Health Centre for post-mortem examination.

The incident has left the local community deeply saddened, with residents expressing shock over the tragic loss of two lives. Authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
