Nabarangpur: Sept 15 [UDN}:A unique Odia film rooted in tribal traditions, culture, literature and the distinctive social fabric of undivided Koraput district, ‘Maliput Melodies’, is set to release on September 18 in cinema halls across the undivided Koraput region.
Ahead of the release, the film’s young director Vishal Pattnaik, dialogue writer Sudhakar Pattnaik, veteran Ollywood actor and Nabarangpur-born artiste Jayanta Santara, and noted actor Chandan Sahu visited Nabarangpur as part of their promotional campaign. They met renowned Nabarangpur telefilm director Manoj Kumar Pattnaik and theatre director Debdas Mahankud to discuss the film’s promotion and its connection with the region’s artistic community.
A special meeting was organised in the evening under the chairmanship of telefilm director Manoj Kumar Pattnaik. Theatre director and actor Debdas Mahankud, along with several prominent artistes from the district, attended the gathering.
During the meeting, director Vishal Pattnaik spoke about how ‘Maliput Melodies’ brings alive the unique flavour of the literature, culture, traditions and heritage of undivided Koraput through its storyline. He explained that the film has been crafted to present the region’s rich cultural identity in an engaging manner while connecting with audiences from different backgrounds.
Veteran Ollywood actor Jayanta Santara, who was born in Nabarangpur, also discussed strategies to ensure that the film reaches a wider audience across different sections of society. He emphasised the importance of collective support from the local artistic and creative community in promoting a film that reflects the cultural roots of the region.
The artistes present at the meeting assured the film team that artists from Nabarangpur district, along with prominent local content creators, would extend their support for the promotion and publicity of the film.
Among those who attended the meeting were music director Tiki Suna, singers Seema Panigrahi, Kumar Samar, Shiv Prasad Mahapatra and Ashok Kumar Deep, actors Nirmal Sahu and Tushar Kanti Khosla, flute player A. Santosh, and choreographer Sujan Suna, among others.
The film boasts a strong cast, including veteran actor Jayanta Santara, Shishir Das, Sushama Mishra, Mohammad Sharif, Bulu Sadangi, Narendra Pattnaik, Chandan Sahu, Dibya Behera and Ashutosh Pal.
Kaushik Das has produced the film, with Ramprabha Pattnaik and Kaustav Das serving as co-producers. Tas Nanda has handled the songwriting and music direction, while Vishal Pattnaik has directed the film.
With its strong emphasis on the traditions, culture and artistic heritage of undivided Koraput, ‘Maliput Melodies’ is expected to offer audiences a distinct cinematic experience that carries the cultural fragrance of southern Odisha to the big screen.
