Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 [UDN}:The Central Government has approved the opening of 72 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country during the 2026–27 academic session. According to the Ministry of Education and the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Odisha has been allotted three new Kendriya Vidyalayas, which will be established at Padampur, Pallahara, and Rairakhol.
The approval is part of the Centre’s continued efforts to expand access to quality school education through the Kendriya Vidyalaya network in different parts of the country.
As per the official information, Andhra Pradesh will receive 8 new Kendriya Vidyalayas, Assam 2, Bihar 7, Chhattisgarh 3, Gujarat, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh one each, Jammu & Kashmir 9, Jharkhand 3, Karnataka 4, Madhya Pradesh 7, Maharashtra 3, Rajasthan 7, Tamil Nadu 3, Telangana 2, Uttar Pradesh 5, and Uttarakhand 2, among other states.
With the addition of these 72 new Kendriya Vidyalayas, the total number of KVs across India will increase to 1,360.
The KVS also stated that the Central Government had opened 85 Kendriya Vidyalayas in 2024 and 57 more in 2025, reflecting its ongoing commitment to strengthening the country’s school education infrastructure and expanding access to high-quality education for students across India.
