Tentulikhunti, June 18:: In Tentulikhunti block of Nabarangpur district, amid intense heat and scorching sun, a remarkable example of humanity was seen when a BDO (Block Development Officer) showed kindness to an elderly woman who was returning home on foot after completing her health check-up.
The BDO of Tentulikhunti demonstrated humanity by offering help and safely dropping the elderly woman at her home in an official vehicle.
The elderly woman, Sunadei Bagh of Gaudaguda village, located about 3 km from Tentulikhunti, had come to the Tentulikhunti Community Health Centre in the afternoon heat for a medical check-up. After completing the examination and collecting medicines, she could not find any auto-rickshaw or other transport to return home, so she started walking back on foot.
At that time, Tentulikhunti BDO Manoj Kumar Panigrahi, who was out on official duty, noticed her. Seeing her condition in the scorching heat, he stopped his vehicle and spoke with her. He then personally helped her into the official vehicle and safely dropped her at her residence in Gaudaguda.
This humane gesture by the BDO is being widely appreciated in the local area. It clearly reflects the sensitivity and sense of social responsibility of a public administrator.
According to BDO Manoj Panigrahi, the elderly woman Sunadei Bagh is already receiving benefits under various government schemes such as pensions and ration supplies. He has also instructed officials to immediately provide her with a wheelchair.
He further directed the health department team to regularly visit her home and ensure her health check-ups on a routine basis.
