Puri, June 30 (UDN): A young woman was found dead in a hotel swimming pool on Chakratirtha Road in Puri on Monday, prompting allegations of foul play from her family and an ongoing police investigation.
Preliminary reports state that the deceased had come to the hotel along with another woman to perform as a dancer at a private bachelor party event. Her body was later discovered in the hotel swimming pool, after which authorities were informed.
Police recovered the body and registered a case of unnatural death (UD). The body has been sent to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
Family members have alleged that the woman may have been pushed into the pool and demanded a thorough and impartial investigation. Police, however, have stated that all possible angles, including accidental drowning, are being considered.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the hotel and speaking to witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
The matter remains under active police inquiry.
